WilsonWeb Search Widget

   
 

WilsonWeb now offers a new Search Widget. A customer can now create a single search text entry box (similar to the WilsonWeb Basic Search screen) on any page they have created, giving users the ease of doing a WilsonWeb search from any page location. Users will be authenticated either by their IP/Referrer Page authentication (the default) or by UserID and Password. Customers now have the option to search WilsonWeb without first having to go to WilsonWeb’s native interface, if desired.

  1. Starting with how your users are authenticated into WilsonWeb.

    Choices include:
    • IP/Referrer Page Authentication - This is the default setting.
    • Using User ID and Password authentication.
  2. Select the WilsonWeb database(s) that your institution subscribes to. 
  3. Enter any default search terms you wish to include in your search.
  4. Optional Settings.
    • If desired, mark the "Full Text articles only" choice, making sure your databases include full text. For example, Art Abstracts and Education Index and Business Periodicals Retrospective databases do not include full text.
    • Mark the "Peer-Reviewed Journals" if you want only results from journals that meet Wilson's higher standards as to what a peer-reviewed article entails. 
    • Enter a proxy prefix if needed.
  5. Customize how the search box looks.

    Search box options include:
    • Automatically adjust the length of entry box text size. This will support between 15 and 60 characters.
    • Choose a background color by clicking the "pallet" icon.
    • Choose a border color by clicking the "pallet" icon.
    • Indicate the WilsonWeb logo location desired. The choices are "Left of the Text Box" and "On Top of Text Box."
    • Click the "Test" button to preview the appearance of the search box. If you are happy with the results, click "Update Preview" button to make it permanent.
  6. Click the "Create Widget" button.

    The code for your widget, will appear and you can highlight and then paste the code onto the page where you want your Wilson Search Widget to appear.
  7. Save your page and you're done.
